ABOUT US

We are building the communication layer that German tax practices deserve.

Fiscova emerges from conversations with practices — not from white papers. Our ambition is a system that gives partners and office managers their time back, without removing the human element from client relationships.

MISSION & VISION

MISSION

Close the communication gap.

Fiscova closes the communication gap in German tax practices. We ensure that every call, every email, every WhatsApp message and every incoming letter lands in the file in a structured way — exactly where the practice already works, without anyone having to translate each item manually again.

VISION

Communication as an asset.

We envision a tax advisory practice where communication with clients is no longer a bottleneck, but an asset. Structured data is created precisely where practice and client meet, and becomes usable in DATEV or ADDISON without detours. The result is not more technology — it is more time for what a practice is actually about: the professional conversation.

FOUNDING STORY

A gap that nobody wanted to close.

Fiscova was founded by Tobias Wedel and Sebastian Ternes — two founders who met in Berlin and later studied together in the Computer Science programme at Stanford University. As CEO, Tobias combines a background in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship with software engineering; he has already built his own company and stepped into countless operational roles over the years. Sebastian, as CTO, comes from hands-on technical practice — many years in engineering positions, complemented by studies in Entrepreneurship and Software Engineering in Berlin and Computer Science at Stanford. What unites them is the drive to work through a concrete problem all the way down to the infrastructure level.

The impetus was a pattern both had independently observed in German practices. While the professional software — DATEV, ADDISON — had been built into an operational backbone over decades, the opposite had happened at the intake channel. Calls were captured on sticky notes. Emails disappeared into personal inboxes. WhatsApp ran over private phones. An industry that makes precision a professional obligation had allowed itself exactly one point of improvisation: where client communication first reaches the practice.

Conversations with partners made one thing clear: the problem is not a software gap. It is a structural one. Highly qualified employees, who could work at hourly rates of over €150, spend a substantial portion of their time sorting, assigning and forwarding cases. The industry's most common response has been: another administrative assistant, another working student, another external call centre. A response that will no longer be viable given the demographic development of the skilled-labour market.

Fiscova grew out of this diagnosis: not as a replacement for DATEV or ADDISON, but as the communication layer in front of them. Incoming cases are captured, classified, assigned to the right client matter and written as a structured task into the existing workflow. The deliberate focus on German tax advisory is intentionally narrow: what we do is not a generic voice bot. It is a vertical system that explicitly understands professional-liability and tax-technical logic. Precisely the gap that nobody wanted to close for so long.

WHERE WE ARE

Built in Berlin.

Our team works from Berlin. Servers and data storage remain exclusively in Germany.

Built in Berlin. On-site appointments are rarely necessary with Fiscova — but if you would like one, we are happy to come to you.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Four principles we do not negotiate.

  • Vertical AI instead of a universal tool

We are not building a horizontal tool. We are building for one profession. That means DATEV document categories, BMF deadlines, client hierarchies, § 203 StGB and the requirements of professional regulations are part of the product — not configuration added afterwards. This specialisation costs us reach, but it is the only way to build a tool that a practice in a regulated market can rely on.

  • Integration instead of replacement

DATEV and ADDISON are not our competitors — they are the system we write into. Fiscova replaces nothing that is already running in a practice. Incoming cases are written into the DATEV file, the inbox or the calendar of the responsible person. Introducing Fiscova changes nothing in the established routines of professional work. It simply relieves the burden at the intake point.

  • GDPR, EU hosting and § 203-compliant

Data from our practice clients resides on European servers, with European data-processing agreements. The architecture is aligned with professional secrecy obligations under German law. We provide the data-processing agreement, we name our sub-processors, and we explain on request where which data is stored. For us this is not a marketing statement, but a prerequisite for being permitted to operate in a tax practice at all.

  • Modularity: a complete system that onboards piece by piece

Fiscova is designed as a complete system, but built so that each practice activates only what it needs. A practice can start with the telephony module alone, add email structuring later, then WhatsApp Business, then letter scanning. There is no big bang, no obligation to buy the full suite. We earn only when the practice actually uses it — not because it has purchased a bundle.
